This restaurant is in an unassuming building on Ponce de Leon Ave, just down the street from the Fox Theater and The Georgian Terrace. But don't let that fool you . . .
Its walls are covered in pictures of the famous movie stars and politicians that have eaten there. And for good reason because the food is to die for!
As you can see, the building is old but full of character, having been a landmark in Atlanta for over 70 years.
As they were taking me to my dining room, I glanced in this window to see others eating in a different room.
I took this picture seated at my table. It looks out on to Ponce de Leon Ave. See the pitcher of tea on the counter? You can't get anymore southern, can you?
See these pencils? All of these years, Mary Mac's has done it the same way. You take one of those pencils and you fill out your own order and give it to the waitress or waiter.
And here is what I ordered . . .
And it wasn't too long until they brought it out to me. That's meatloaf covered in sauce. I forgot to tell them to leave the sauce off (I don't care for it). But the meatloaf was DELICIOIUS.
Be sure to watch this video about the place.
I enjoyed my lunch immensely.
